Singapore’s Joseph Schooling is part of the 2025 class of inductees into the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the organisation announced earlier this week.

“This achievement isn’t just mine – it belongs to my coaches, teammates, mentors, family, and everyone who believed in me along the way,” Schooling said, according to The Straits Times. “Swimming has shaped my life in ways I could never have imagined, teaching me discipline, resilience, and the power of perseverance.

“Thank you to the Swimming Hall of Fame for this incredible honour. I’m forever grateful.”

Schooling struck gold at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, taking the Olympic title in the 100m butterfly.

His gold medal was the first Olympic title for his nation, and he remains their only Olympic champion.

In addition to his triumph in Rio, he owns two World Championships bronze medals in the 100m

butterfly. Schooling announced his retirement from the sport last April.

Other inductees in the 2025 class include Anthony Ervin, Ryan Lochte, and Federica Pellegrini.
